The Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field outside of behavioral science but wish to pursue substance abuse counseling licensure in Texas. Students who successfully complete the courses will be eligible register as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) intern.
Nine semester hours specific to substance abuse use disorders and their treatments
Select courses in psychology, upper division sociology, counseling, mental health, behavioral science, psychiatric nursing, ethics, and rehabilitation counseling that are no more than seven years old may substitute for the DAAC courses, if approved in advance by an advisor.
