Note:
The TEAS entrance exam can be scheduled through the Kilgore College Testing Center. Students may take the exam at any testing center that the TEAS test is given. The test may also be taken via the website: https://atitesting.com. TEAS scores must be taken within one year of your program’s start date. Applicants must complete the Reading, Math, Science, and English & Language portions of the TEAS exam and achieve a minimum overall score of 58.7 to be eligible for the program.
Applicants must successfully complete the science prerequisite with at least a “C” (75%) and maintain a minimum science GPA of 2.5. Science courses must be no older than 5 years at the time of application. If BIOL 2401 is older than five (5) years, students may take BIOL 2404 as a refresher course. The VN program must be completed within five consecutive semesters. If the student does not receive a C (75%) or higher in any course, the student may not progress until the deficiency has been removed.
In addition to meeting the regular college admission requirements, applicants must submit a nursing application and be accepted by the Admission/Progression Committee. Students should contact the Nursing Department or a Health Science Academic Advisor for additional information. The student must take clinical courses concurrently with their applicable theory course, must be successful in BOTH to progress, and must repeat BOTH to correct deficiency. The student must complete all required courses of the program with a “C” (75%) or higher. Grade requirements for successful competition are: A (90-100), B (80-89), C (75-79), and F (below 75). The student must complete nursing courses for each semester before progressing to the next. A student with two (2) VNSG course failures, to include any withdrawal while failing, will be dropped from the program and may re-apply after two years.
A student who completes the required courses may earn a certificate of completion and become eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam, administeredby the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). All first semester courses are pre-requisite to second & third semester courses.
Courses cannot be taken more than twice.
