The Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field outside of behavioral science but wish to pursue substance abuse counseling licensure in Texas. Students who successfully complete the courses will be eligible register as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) intern.

Required Courses
Nine semester hours specific to substance abuse use disorders and their treatments
Selective Courses
The remaining 9 hours may be specific or related to chemical dependency counseling.
