Radiologic Science, A.A.S.

This curriculum leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Science requiring 64 SCH. This program prepares students to assume a professional role in the field of Radiography. Radiographers assist in the diagnosis process by performing diagnostic medical procedures utilizing radiation, high tech equipment and computers. For the vast majority of diagnostic procedures, the radiographer has total responsibility for the care and well-being of the patient and must be prepared to produce quality images with care and empathy. Radiographers work in hospitals, physician’s offices, and primary care facilities.

Upon successful program completion, the graduate will be eligible to take the national certification examination in radiography offered by the ARRT, and will be eligible for a temporary Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRTI certificate from the TMB. Registered radiographers may be eligible to gain employment nationally depending on state licensure requirement. Radiographers may also pursue a career in education, management, training or sales. Advancement opportunities in this field include Computed Tomography Technologist, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist, Special Imaging Technologist, Cardiac Cath Lab Imaging Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Sonographer, Radiation Therapist, Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA), Supervisor and Administrator.
