Academic Degrees
The Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching and the Associate of Science degrees provide general academic curricula in university-parallel and pre-professional courses of study which enable students to enter as juniors at senior colleges or universities of their choice. Students who attend KC for one or two years and transfer to senior colleges or universities should have no difficulty completing transfer of credits if they follow these steps:
- Select a major field of study and a senior college or university which offers a bachelor’s degree in the chosen field
- Write or visit the Office of Admissions and Registrar of the senior college or university to obtain a current copy of its catalog, and study the freshman and sophomore courses offered
- See an academic KC advisor or counselor who will help select KC courses corresponding to those offered for freshman and sophomore years at the senior college or university
- Complete the courses with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (C average)
- Apply for admission to the senior college or university according to that institution’s Admission policies and ask the Office of Admissions and Registrar to send a transcript to the receiving institution
